Dady De Maximo Mwicira Mitali is an award-winning Rwandan artist, film-maker, poet and fashion designer. A survivor of the Rwandan Genocide against the Tutsi of Rwanda in 1994, he is a one of the rare of his family to have escaped death. Recently, he became the victim of a second attempt on his life in Kigali Rwanda . The homophobic attempted murder took place in his Kigali home on the 11th November 2011.

The aggressors made their homophobic motivation known by leaving a note behind. The aggressors invaded his home armed with knives and petrol jerks with intent of burning him alive. He only survived because a neighbor alarmed by the noise provoked by the struggle interrupted their horrific and coward act.

Unlike its neighboring country Uganda and Burundi , Rwanda has strongly rejected attempt to make homosexuality a legal and political issue stating: “People sexual orientation and choices in people private lives is not a political matter in Rwanda ”
Besides being a fearless and multi-talented artist, Dady is also a humanitarian who has offer food, shelter, security and comfort to vulnerable orphans and survivors in his own home in Kigali .

Two attempts on one person life based on ethnicity or sexual discrimination should not and will not be a silent matter! Certain countries in Africa may be supportive of backward discrimination policies based on some obscure cultural stand-points but Rwanda- because of its tragic experience- is not!!
This act is a criminal matter pure and simple!
With your help, the culprit of this heinous crime should and will go through arrest and prosecution with a guilty verdict at the earliest with big drum rolls and headlines!!!
